  Additional Information
Gary’s MA dissertation, which was completed in 2014, looked at association football culture in Salford prior to the First World War including a brief history of Salford United AFC and the club’s application to the Football League in 1907.

Another submission for the degree was a contextualisation of The Caine Report, a marketing & PR consultancy report commissioned by the Rugby Football League in 1971. Analysis of this report involved significant primary research and contact with the Report’s author. An article incorporating some of the findings entitled ‘Back to the Future’ was published in the December 2013 issue of Rugby League World.
