Originally from Manchester, Paul Newsham is a lecturer in history at the Adam Mickiewicz University in PoznaƄ, Poland. He completed his MA at this institution, writing about the English sporting ballad as an expression of Anglican culture. An article based on this work was published in the Journal of Physical Culture and Tourism. He is currently working on his PhD thesis concerning the history and cultural significance of British sporting song and has presented elements of his research at conferences both in the UK and Central Europe.
